And God told me: No.
He said that pride does not take
Disown her.
I asked God to grant me patience,
And God told me: No.
He said that patience is the result of the tests
It does not give, and deserve.
I asked God to give me happiness,
And God told me: No.
He said he gives the blessing,
And will I be happy, depends on me.
I asked God to protect me from pain,
And God told me: No.
He said suffering separates man
From worldly cares and closer to Him.
I asked God for spiritual growth
And God told me: No.
He said that spirit should grow himself.
I asked God to help me love others,
Just as He loves me
And God said, Finally you understand
What we must ask…
I asked for strength and God sent trials
To harden me.
I asked for wisdom and God sent problems
Over which we must wrestle.
I asked for courage and God sent danger.
I asked for love and God sent
in need of my help.
I asked for blessings, and God gave me opportunities.
I have not received anything requested.
I got everything I needed.
